I am
a painter, a designer, a sculptor, a traveler, a gardener, a curator, a glass artist, a runner, a writer, a Cher fanatic, a Scandinavian, a friend, an environmentalist, a sometimes makeup artist, a sibling, a nurturer, and a spiritual being. In no particular order.
The gist of this is that I occupy a plethora of titles and states of being at any given time. All of these facets give depth and meaning to my creative life which this site helps to capture.
A glassworker
I began my glasswork career at age 11 after a year long mentorship with a local glassworker. At 12 I opened up my business “Glass Attitude” (reflective of my young adult wit and sass) in my parents’ basement. At 13 I began my 5 year residency in the Bergstrom Mahler Museum of Glass’s museum shoppe. Over the course of 7 years I supplied 5 different retail locations, attended shows, was featured in a newspaper publication, won several awards, and taught classes from the elementary level through adult level technical courses in fused glass. I put glasswork on hiatus for University in 2016, however.
An interior designer
I moved from WI to MN to pursue my BS in Interior Design through the UofM’s College of Design and graduated in 2020. Interior design had always been a peripheral interest, and through my education I not only fulfilled a desire to work with my hands and creative mind to create beautiful, responsive, and dynamic spaces, but I also discovered that interiors are one of the most influential ways to affect positive change in people’s lives. Additionally, implementing sustainability measures (another passion) to generate ripple effects on the environment gives me hope for the future.
A gardener
One of my greatest joys is spending time with plants both indoors and outdoors. Growing up, I tended to a large perennial garden with over 75 species. The never ending upkeep gave me purpose and a sense of suspense as I watched them mature and flower over the seasons. Having moved away from the garden, my current living space is filled with over 50 different plants which I tend to on a daily basis. I find the act of nurturing extremely therapeutic and regenerative.
with Scandinavian Roots
As you may have gathered by my name, I’m very Scandinavian. The first time I traveled to Scandinavia was when I was 9 years old on a family trip; I returned 11 years later on my own for my spring 2019 semester of university studying interior architecture. A few days into living in Denmark I felt that it was somehow a home I always had. My personal style reflects this - I love the sweet spot of beautiful simplistic form meeting functionality, and my friends know me for my “hyggeligt” home.
